Downloads

Here is a bit of information on Bittorrent, along with a few direct downloads that I feel good about making easily available to the public.

Azureus is a very snazzy client written in java. It's great, but uses a bit more memory than others.

Bittorrent Clients - The Bittorrent file sharing client was developed to overcome the problem of slow download speeds. It breaks files into small pieces, allowing you to start uploading (sharing) before you have even finished downloading the file. This allows everybody to get consistently fast download speeds. To download a file this way, you must search the Internet to find the torrent files associated with the download you desire. Use the search form below, the links below, or Google (Search query = [fileyouwant torrent]).

Slow Bittorrent speeds? You may need to play with your router a bit. Read this to learn more. You should be able to get at least 50 KB/s and ideally over 150KB/s much of the time.
Lando's Stinking Hole - Feeling impatient and can't wait to download some more Ali-G? Here are some low quality, but watchable, rips of Ali-G, Futurama and South Park set up as direct HTML downloads in zip files.
Process Viewer - This tells you what's running on your computer, and lets you shut down crashed programs. It's better than Windows Task Manager. I use it all the time.
Paint Shop Pro 4 - This older photo/graphics editing program loads into memory in just a few seconds, and good enough for most small edits.
File Ops 1.03 - This freeware tool gives you some power left out of the Windows GUI - batch rename and change extension; change timestamps; and shred. It also will encrypt files and act as a very slim FTP uploader for quickly popping files onto your server space.
Fontlister 2 - This is an old freeware version of a great utility that lets you preview fonts before you install them, or browse the fonts you already have installed. The current software is only $5 and offers support and extra features.
The Tinking Man's Thesaurus - A fantastic writing tool to help you find the right word.
TV.exe - This funky little executable simulates the TV experience on your computer. Tune in to live broadcasts from around the world. Normally, you'd need a good satellite dish or travel to foreign countries to get this experience. Of course, these same live feeds are out there on the Internet, but this cute program brings them all together to let you channel surf.
Hijack This - Has your Intenet Explorer homepage been changed? This tool can help you fix the problem. It tells you about any suspicious executable files, programs and processes that are set up to run automatically through Windows. It's a lot more than a startup list manager. Try it out and see. There is no install - just run the program.
