It let’s you zoom in from space all the way to your street. Coverage is mostly American and key cities around the world. Wow. In their FAQ, they say:
Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Keyhole’s technology and products are an excellent addition to our efforts to do that. We do not have any announced plans regarding how this technology will integrate with our current products and services.
I like their mission. I think they’re ahead of schedule. Ayn Rand would be pleased to see they are getting rich by making the whole world richer.

This turned into Google Earth. (Man, can I spot the next big thing, or what?) But wait… you can get another similar program free from NASA called Worldwind. It is better than Google Earth in some ways and not as good in others. It’s certainly worth checking out.
